Item Description:The genuineness of the collection has been questioned by several authorities (Loundes, Baebier, Vacant et Mangenot, etc.) the authorship being attributed to L.A. de Caraccioli. That it is in substance a genuine collection, though some of the letters are spurious, is affirmed by Alfred von Reumont in his "Ganganelli ... seine Briefe und seine Zeit. 1847." Cf. also Encycl. Title-pages of v. 4 and 5 vary; v. 4: Nueva coleccion de las cartas del papa Clemente XIV (Ganganelli) en continuacin̤ de los tres tomos antecedents. Traducidas de italiano y latn̕ en francš por el marques Caracciolo, y de francš en castellano por d.
