500 |a The original work "Naufragio y peregrinacion de Pedro Gobeo de Vitoria, natural de Sevilla, escrito por ľ mismo ... En Sevilla por Clemente Hidalgo. Aǫ 1610," is divided into eight books. A Latin translation by the author is mentioned by Antonio (Bibl. hisp. nova) as worthy to be published, but no printed edition of it is known. A German tr. from the Latin version appeared with title: Wunderbarliche vnd seltzame Raiss Dess Jungen vnd Edlen Herrn Petri de Victoria Auss Hispanien in das Kn̲igreich Peru. Anno 1622. (Title transcribed from the copy in the K. Hof- und staatsbibliothek, Munich) Bissel's translation is presumably based upon this German version and p. 1. (cf. his preface)
