Women Religious History Sources (5th edition) Preferred Citation Presentation Archives, San Francisco (PASF) Scope and Content These archives document the history of the Sisters’ collective and individual lives beginning with their arrival in San Francisco in 1854 through the present. Inherent in that history is the impact their actions and lives have had on the people and communities they have served. As a result, the collections also document many of the important events and social movements that are fundamental to the overall history of San Francisco, and all of California, through the lens of otherwise underrepresented and marginalized populations. The bulk of the collections consists of records, photographs, audio-visual materials, artifacts and ephemera from the Sisters’ educational ministries in elementary, middle and high schools, and English as a Second Language centers throughout California, New Mexico, and Washington state. Other subjects included in the collections are administration and governance; convent annals; membership; community life; individual ministries focused on immigrant rights, youth justice advocacy and human trafficking; Latin American medical and pastoral missions; social justice actions; and oral histories.
