Summary:Father Gilbert V. Hartke was a director, playwright, priest, and founder of the Speech and Drama Department at the Catholic University of America. This collection houses both his personal and professional manuscripts, correspondence, and publications. Among the many materials one will find photographs, Fr. Hartke's scrapbooks of department performances and articles concerning his work, and also audio-visual material. The museum component of this collection holds all of Fr. Hartke's awards, some of his personal effects, and his academic regalia.
