| Summary: | The Leadership Council of Catholic Laity (LCCL) originated with the American bishops' Committee on the Laity Consultation in Belleville, Illinois, prior to the Synod on the laity of 1987. It continued thereafter as a tax exempt non-profit organization until it was dissolved in 1995 with its remaining assets distributed to its member organizations. The American Catholic Lay Network (ACLN) was a national Catholic organization that began in 1985 as a project of the Center of Concern in Washington, D.C. It was re-named the ACLN the following year and incorporated as a tax exempt non-profit organization that was officially terminated in 1990 with its assets transferred to the LCCL. Records housed at CUA were gathered primarily by Fred C. Leone and Joseph Holland who were members of both the LCCL and ACLN. They include correspondence, meeting minutes, articles of incorporation, financial records, publications such as newsletters and directories, and conference programs as well as video tapes and audio cassettes. |
