Description
Summary:The Roy J. Deferrari Papers consist of correspondence with professional organizations, published and unpublished drafts of articles, speeches, notes related to Dr. Deferrrari's published writings, classroom notes and student papers. While some of his classroom notes date to the 1920s and some of his personal papers date to the 1930s, the majority of the items within this collection fall within the range of 1950-1966. The papers are divided into five series: General Subject Files, Professional Organizations, Published Materials, Classroom Lectures and Notes and Personal Papers. The Classroom Lectures and Notes series is divided into three subseries: general lectures, pro-seminar classroom materials, and pro-seminar student papers. The majority of this collection covers Dr. Deferrari's work as a speaker, editor and professor of Classics, especially near the end of his career. These papers demonstrate the dual nature of Dr. Deferrari's career as both an advocate of Catholic education and as an educator of Classics.
