Beskrivelse
Summary:This study draws some lessons for bearing witeness in the New Evangelization from the witness borne by Mary in her proclamation of her Magnificat. These lessons come from comparing both the content of the Magnifict and the context of its delivery to papal teaching on witness since the Second Vatican Council. As the study revealed, papal teaching has relied on a biblical theology of the word to present evangelical witness as a chain of testimonies given in word and deed. This chain is anchored in the witness that God bore to himself and his loving plan--a witness that has been communicated ever since by the words and deeds of other links in the chain, namely the Aspostles, the Church, and individual believers. The content and context of the Magnificat model this witness, culminating in a joyous testimony to the greatest deed ever wrought by God: the sending of his Son into the womb of Mary so that God could elevate the faithful to a dignity as royal heirs living with him and one another in an unending communion of covenantal love.
