Description
Summary:Probably posted on public walls, this broadside provides specific regulations to control the large number of pilgrims visiting Loreto in the 1830s. The 23 numbered edicts were issued by the archbishop of Fermo, a small town which served as a popular departure point for pilgrims. Some examples of the edicts: each confraternity pilgrimage party must be composed of at least 20 members; each party must have a carretto with provisions, which are the responsibility of the whole, not individual members; no carriages are allowed for pilgrims; pilgrims must wear the uniform of their respective confraternities during the journey, while reciting the Rosary.
