Description
Summary:"The narrative is somewhat unusual in that its subject did not perform a pilgrimage or prior supplication to the Virgin Mary, but was rather cured, at least initially, merely by word of mouth ... According to the text, Verginia Girolami Covoni had suffered a fall six years previously down a 'very narrow flight of stairs,' which led to a two-year-long convulsive fever confining her to bed. On the 6th of May 1756 ...[in] the nearby village of Antilla ... she was told by a 'pious lady' about the miraculous cure effected by a certain image of Our Lady of Good Counsel upon ... a nun at the Convent of St. Anna sul Prato. While this story was related to her she felt her spirits rise, her faith restored, and feeling restored to her hands. The image in question was housed in the Oratorio of the Marchese' villa, but Covoni brought the icon back to Florence, where her sure was completed in spectacular fashion ... The text tells us that this image of 'Maria Santissima del Buon Consiglio' was brought to Bologna by a certain Antonio Landini, and was one of many copies made of an original"--Bookseller.
