Description of the Collection The Murray Polner papers reflect the research of Polner as he wrote Disarmed and Dangerous: The Radical Life and Times of Daniel and Philip Berrigan. Research materials for the book included in this collection were primarily gathered by Polner in 1993-1996 from publications, archives, the Berrigan family, those who knew them, and Polner's collection of materials on the peace and anti-nuclear movements. Reactions to the release of Disarmed and Dangerous are also included. Arrangement of the Collection The Murray Polner papers are arranged into six series: 1. Berrigan Biographical Files; 2. Peace Actions; 3. People Files; 4. Subject Files; 5. Notes and Research; 6. June 2013 Addition. Most series are further divided into subseries; see series level descriptions for further details. Arrangement of the materials is based on Polner's original organization, which includes folder labels present at the time materials were donated, as well as Polner's annotations on materials that were not in labeled folders. When neither folder labels nor item annotations were available, items were examined by the processor to determine their placement. Within the series, materials are arranged to reflect where Polner collected them, including published materials such as clippings and book excerpts, archival sources such as Cornell University and government agencies, and individuals who provided writings and recollections such as Daniel Berrigan or Liz McAlister. The June 2013 Addition series includes all of those materials from accession 2013.21.
