Scope and Content Manuscripts, Reports, History, Correspondence, Financial and Legal Documents, Publications, Photos, Artifacts Background St. Anthony's Home and St. Vincent's Maternity Hospital were founded in 1899. For the first several years, the institutions were operated at various times by Catholic laywomen, the Sisters of St. Mary, and the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. The Daughters of Charity took over in 1909. The two operated as a combined institution until 1955. At that point, St. Anthony's moved to a new location, while St. Vincent's was converted into a general hospital under the direction of the Maryknoll Sisters. The Daughters withdrew from St. Anthony's in 1969 when it was absorbed into the Catholic Family and Community Services Agency.
