Summary: | Augustus J. Thebaud, S.J. was born in Brittany in 1807, entered the Society in Rome, and came to the U.S. in about 1838. He spent most of his life at Fordham, serving as President for about nine years between 1846 and 1860. He wrote several books and the bulk of this collection consists of the complete manuscript of his last, posthumously-published book, Three-quarters of a Century (1807-1882): A Retrospect, published by the United States Catholic Historical Society, 1904-1913. In addition, there is a short manuscript, mostly in French, on aspects of the history of France. |
