The Rheims version was translated from the Latin Vulgate by Gregory Martin, under the supervision of W. Allen and R. Bristow; the Bishops' version was translated under the supervision of M. Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury.
Text of the Rheims version in roman type on the left hand side of page, the Bishops' version in italics on the right side, both in verse form. Verse no. indented in matching type. Title centered across top of both pages. Notes and references in margins. Arguments before each book and annotations at end of each book. Engraved initials indented over 6-9 lines at the beginning of books and bold-face type initials indented over 2 lines at the beginning of chapters. Some head- and tailpieces.
