| Deskrypcja: | First ed. of Iturriaga's treatise, and first authorized printing of his translation. Title vignette; tail-piece; footnotes; roman and italic type. Preliminaries include imprimaturs (p. VI); and Iturriaga's own translation from the original Latin of a circular letter to his clergy, dated Nov. 20, 1781, from Giovanni Leopoldo ab Hai, bishop of Königsgratz (p. VII-XVII), whose views Iturriaga disputed. Pages XIX-CCLXX contain Iturriaga's reply to the critique of the bishop's "system of tolerance" by "Isaac Vanspeuspeg", an anagrammatic supporter of the bishop. Signatures: A-R¹² [$4 signed]. Modern half-binding of green morocco and marbled paper boards; blind-stamped fleur-de-lis spine ornaments and spine title "Sistema della tolleranza"; edges sprinkled red.
