545 0 |a Catherine Anna Louise Jarrott was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 6, 1925. She started her academic career at Los Angels City College, earning her A.A. degree in 1945, followed by her Bachelor's degree in English at the University of California - Los Angeles in 1947, and her M.A. and Ph. D. in English from Stanford University in 1949 and 1954. Jarrott accepted a post at Loyola University Chicago in 1963, where she remaind until her death in 1985. She was authority on Erasmus, Renaissance Humanist Literature, Chaucer, and Shakespeare. Her particular interest was John Colet's interpretation on I Corinthians and Romans. Dr. Jarrott was the director of the undergraduate English program at Loyola and a member of the American Association of University Professors, the Renaissance Seminar of the University of Chicago, and other professional organizations.
