545 0 |a Henry James Wirtenberger (1900-1985) was a professor in the School of Business at Loyola University from 1963 to 1974. He specialized in economics and business morality, taught seminars, and wrote a book on morality and business in 1962. Born and raised in Chicago, he attended St. Edward grade school and Carl Schurz High School. Wirtenberger served in the U.S. navy in 1918 before attending the University of Illinois and Crane Junior college. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1921 and was ordained in 1935 at St. Mary's College in Kansas. He received a B.A. from St. Louis University in 1926 and his M.A. in Philosophy in 1927. Wirtenberger received an M.A. in socioeconomics from the London School of Economics in 1939. From 1961 to 1963 Wirtenberger helped establish the Universidad Del Pacifico in Lima, Peru. In 1963 Writenberger joinde the faculty of Loyola University Chicago where he taught philosophy and business ethics. He retired from Loyola in 1974 and passed away in 1984.
