| Item Description: | Ludovicus Letus taught philosophy and cases of conscience at the Jesuit college in Rome from 1637 to 1648. This lecture on the first three commandments was transcribed by a student, Isidorus Bencivenga. No published work by Letus exists, but a similar manuscript, entitled In universum decalogum commentarii, is cited by Backer-Sommervogel. On title page: "Isidorus Bencivenga anno 1641"; on 3rd preliminary leaf: Bencivenga's arms, dated 1642; on p. [1] of fourth paging sequence: "Compendivm rervm ac definitionvm ... Isidoro Bencivenga ... Anno 1640 Romæ". Title within engraved architectural border; text ornamented throughout. Half-title: Tractatvs primvs De tribvs decalogi præceptis.
