Originally appeared in Spanish under title Naufragio y peregrinacion en la costa del Piru (Seville, 1610). Although Victoria had made his own Latin translation of this work, it was never published; Bissel's exapanded Latin translation was apparently taken from the German version of the Naufragio (Wunderbarliche vnd seltzame Raiss dess Jungen vnd Edlen Herrn Petri de Victoria ...) published in 1622. |
