| Summary: | Interview conducted for Voices from the Catholic Worker. Hazen Ordway discusses what drew him to the Catholic Worker Movement, his conscientious objection during World War II, and life on Catholic Worker farms. He talks about hearing Dorothy Day speak at Catholic University in 1935 and how it encouraged him to become a Catholic Worker. He then discusses working on Maryfarm in Easton, Pa. before attempting to register as a conscientious objector for World War II. He discusses the problems he faced in registering as a CO, including being arrested by the FBI, and how he was eventually drafted into service. He then discusses moving to a Catholic Worker farm in Michigan before finally settling at the Peter Maurin Farm in Marlboro, N.Y.
