He then discusses working on Maryfarm in Easton, Pa. before attempting to register as a conscientious objector for World War II. He discusses the problems he faced in registering as a CO, including being arrested by the FBI, and how he was eventually drafted into service. He then discusses moving to a Catholic Worker farm in Michigan before finally settling at the Peter Maurin Farm in Marlboro, N.Y.
