总结: | John Reinhold Bender, A.M., of Sutton, Nebraska, was a Saint Louis University Law student from 1909 to 1912. During 1910 and 1911, he coached the University sports teams while attending school full time. He was an excellent student and a great coach. He was called "The Billiken" because of a perceived resemblance to that creature. Ultimately, SLU teams adopted the name of the mascot and to the present, these are the only known Billiken Teams in the world.
