Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:This folder contains two original letters written by James Clemens Sr. In these letters, Clemens, of Huntsville, Alabama, addresses James Clemens Jr. as his nephew. He asks for advice about hemp growing in the St. Louis area and says that cotton is failing in Alabama; he is contemplating setting up a rope walk on his plantation. He also requests information on Isabella Reade Sais, John Clemens's daughter, who is now living in St. Louis (Feb. 1840). He asks, too, whether his doctor son Archibald might make a career in St. Louis, and tells of his legislator son Jeremiah's removal to Texas (Aug. 1, 1842).
