| 545 | |a St. Edward's has had many gymnasiums over the years. The original was located on the second floor of the natatorium until it was destroyed in the 1922 tornado. A simple wood frame gym (called Doyle Hall) was built in 1923 and dismantled in 1944 to provide building materials for the new Armory/Gymnasium. This served as an armory for the Military Academy, the High School and later the women's gymnasium. It was razed in 1983 after serving as the Union Center and as temporary facility for the library during major additions to the library building. The Alumni Memorial Gymnasium was built in 1950 and served as the school gymnasium until the Recreation/Convocation center was built in 1986.
