"Cet ouvrage est d'Augustin Patrice Picolomini, évèque de Faenza; il fut entrepris vers l'année 1488, par ordre du pape Innocent VIII. Plus tard, Christophe Marcellus, évèque de Corcyre, le publie sans en nommer l'auteur, mais après avoir fait au texte du manuscrit des falsifications qui éveillèrent l'attention des cardinaux, et furent déférér au pape Léon X, lequel ordonna la suppression du livre dénoncé. --Brunet. v.3, col. 1396. |
