Background Terence L. Dosh was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, 22 November 1930, educated at St. John's University in Collegeville starting prep school there in 1944 and becoming a Benedictine Oblate in 1945. He became a Benedictine monk in 1950 and was ordained a priest in 1957. He taught at St. John's and at St. Ben's in St. Joseph, Minnesota. He earned a Ph.D. in European History at the University of Minnesota (1971), left the monastic community, married Millicent Adams, and taught at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He served as the first national coordinator of CORPUS, an organization of married Roman Catholic priests, and founded and published Bread Rising.
