Ouvrages anonymes II, col. 309; Backer-Sommervogel III, col. 1560. Wing (2nd ed.) and T.H. Clancy attribute the work to François Nepveu. Translator's dedication signed: N.N. In the second edition, the translator changes his initials to I.W. and Clancy identifies the translator as John Warner of the Society of Jesus. Place of publication and publisher statement from colophon (foot of p. 219) "Veni sancte spiritus, &c. An act of contrition, made by the reverend Father Antonio das Chagas ... Translated out of Portugueze" (caption title) has separate pagination and register. Leaves B3 and F3 missigned Aiij and Fij respectively; page 217 misnumbered 216. Errata: p. [2]-[3] at end. Headpiece; tailpieces; initials. Page [220] and p. [1] at end are blank. |
