Also head and tailpieces. Title vignette, printer's mark. Dedicatory epistle signed, "Vostre tres humble & tres obeissant serviteur Le Petit." There is an unidentified armorial bookplate on the verso of the front flyleaf of what appears to be an heraldic crest as follows: Environed in an oval a griffen segreant sable, beaked, winged and crowned holding an unsheatherd sword and three flowers is upon an ancient crown; above the oval is a large ancient crown and below a pendant wolf. Bound in black morroco with full gilt spine and gold stamped dentelle borders, gilt edges. Green moiré wallpaper endpapers with a blue Italian marbled verso. |
